A Few of My Favorite Quotes (PB)

“People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered. Love them anyway.”
~Kent M. Keith
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
~Walt Disney
“No man is rich enough to buy back his past.”
~Oscar Wilde

These three quotes are just a few of my absolute favorite quotes. Not all of them are necessarily extremely profound. Some of them aren’t even true. Every person in the world enjoys different quotes because we all have different ideals. While these three quotes are ones that I enjoy and love, someone else in the world might think they are the stupidest things they’ve ever heard. Each and every one of us must first accept that we are different before we can even begin to decide what quotes we—as individuals—truly love.

The first quote I chose to talk about is by Kent M. Keith. This quote makes me think about my friends and family. I think about how sometimes I can’t stand most of them. How sometimes I don’t even want to be in the same room with them because I’m afraid that I’ll just scream at them. I also think about what I would do without those same people. I wonder: where would I be without them?

The second quote is by Walt Disney. In my humble opinion there is a Walt Disney quote out there for just about everyone. If you can’t find a quote by Disney that you at all enjoy…well. For instance, this quote. It’s beyond idealistic—a lot of dreams probably won’t come true—but it’s also inspiring. This quote gives hope that all you have to do is have courage. You have to be brave enough to take that first step and you’re already half way to your goal.

The last quote is by Oscar Wilde. He’s another one that has about 6 billion quotes attached to his name—I know, I know, extreme over exaggeration. Anyways, he has a lot of quotes with extremely deep meanings. Quotes that really hit the nail on the head. This quote reminds me of the book The Great Gatsby. In that book Gatsby is obsessed with the past, but even with all his money he just can’t get it—or so I’ve been told. Maybe F. Scott Fitzgerald took a little inspiration from Wilde, but who knows?

In short, I hope you enjoyed my little montage on a few of my favorite quotes.

  1. Li-Lupe, I enjoyed this blog! I can tell that these are things that you would say and they express part of who you are (a smart and amazing young lady that will soon be confirmed). You explain all of your reasoning and you provide support with all of points. I can tell that you gave thought about quotes and how they can be interpreted a million different ways, which I know happen. I appreciate the detail that you gave for the Oscar Wilde quote because you gave tangible evidence that someone could use to help interpret a meaning of the quote. Goodreads (http://www.goodreads.com/) has the option to look at different quotes either directly from a book or what an author has said.
